Open Innovation Africa Summit provides essential platform for Africa’s innovators (Nairobi, Kenya – May 28-30, 2012)
Nairobi – The stage is set for more than 200 of Africa’s top policy makers, developers, entrepreneurs and private enterprises to engage in three days of intense debate at the Open Innovation Africa Summit (OIAS) starting today. The OIAS exists to stimulate discussion about the role of entrepreneurship, innovation and ICTs in Africa – not just among participants, but also virtually – and to explore the transformative innovations necessary to successfully address many of the challenges facing Africa today.
This year’s OIAS – the second one of its kind – is organized by Nokia, CapGemini and infoDev, a technology, entrepreneurship and innovation program in the World Bank. Facebook has launched its latest feature: the ability to share with your network whether you are an organ donor, in the hope it will save more lives on a daily basis.
Facebook has launched a new “life-saving” tool, allowing its 900 million users to share their organ donation status on their timelines.
The world’s largest social network now allows U.S. and UK users to include a life story on their profile pages, and offers a link urging users to sign up to official organ donation services in their region. Continue reading

HP Mobile Authentication Helps Protect Customers Against Counterfeits
LAGOS, Nigeria, 26th October, 2011 – HP today announced that Original HP ink cartridge and Original HP toner cartridge packaging will feature HP’s newest-generation security label where customers can verify the authenticity of the product using HP Mobile Authentication and an internet connected device.
The launch of HP Mobile Authentication is part of HP’s wider global Anti-Counterfeit program (ACF), an industry leading initiative designed to protect customers from fraudulent printing supplies and guard against substandard performance. HP Mobile Authentication helps assure customers at the point of purchase that they’re buying the expected quality and reliability of Original HP supplies.
Today´s announcement is in line with HP’s continued leadership in cloud based innovation. In August 2011, HP first launched Global Authentication Service (GAS), based on HP’s own sophisticated algorithm technology, to fight against global counterfeiting. This cloud-based track-and-trace solution was originally developed by HP Labs – the company’s central research arm – and the HP Software Professional Services Cloud Services Innovation Center to monitor goods in HP’s supply chain.
