The missing Blackberry Messenger Icon is a common occurrence these days. Some people try to re-download the blackberry messenger application when they notice this problem but of course, that option does not work.
If you find out that you cannot find your blackberry messenger icon anymore, there are two options to solving this;
FIRST OPTION [Revealing all invisible Icons / Folders]
It is possible that the Blackberry Messenger icon could have been hidden deliberately or unknowingly by you, a friend or someone else who had access to your blackberry phone. If this was the case, then these steps below would be all the solution you need;
- Go to the main screen of your blackberry phone.
2. Press your menu key ( is the key with the blackberry logo on it) to display your already visible icons / folders.
- 3. Press the menu key again and a tab would pop out. If you have any hidden folders or icons, the tab would have the ‘Show All’ option (Please see picture below). Select the ‘Show All’ option to reveal all the hidden icons / folders on your main menu. Feel free to repeat the ‘Show All’ action inside each folder, as your Blackberry Messenger icon could have been hidden in your main menu or in any of your folders.
SECOND OPTION [Wipe Handheld]
If your case was not as explained in the first option, then this second option is for you.
It is a confirmed and personally tested fact that, a Missing Blackberry Messenger Application cannot be restored by just downloading and reinstalling the app. In this scenario, you would have to first ‘Wipe your Handheld’. Wiping your handheld will delete all your settings, contacts and every data you have ever stored on the phone, therefore before you use the ‘Wipe Handheld’ option, I advise you do a backup.
N/B: You do not need to backup your memory card as its contents are NOT tampered with during a phone wipe.
Wiping your handheld would restore your blackberry phone to factory settings. Once this has been done, your blackberry icon would appear (i.e. only if it was part of the factory installed applications); otherwise, just simply download and install it and you are good to go.
*Below is an example of how to ‘Wipe a Blackberry Curve 8900’
- Go to Settings > Options > Security Options > General Settings > Then press the menu key (signified with blackberry logo) and select the ‘Wipe Handheld’ option.
*Please note that finding the ‘Wipe Handled’ option under Settings, differs depending on your blackberry model and the operating system in use.

Posted by Eta Uso Jr | December 17, 2012, 7:49 amI clicked the ‘Show All’ option, and I found the BBM icon, but it’s transparent. I tried to delete it by going to my applications, but the ‘Delete’ option was not available. I’m using a Curve 9330.
Posted by Jennifer | December 27, 2012, 3:13 pmDon’t delete it. Just go to it and press d menu button on your blackberry, then select unhide.

Posted by Duchess | January 18, 2013, 9:19 amMust have to do with your software licensing file. Try re-installing your operating system afresh. It would solve it.
