BlackBerry® smartphones with an integrated camera
When trying to launch the camera application on the BlackBerry® smartphone, the following error message appears:
Could not launch camera application, close other applications and then try again.
This issue may be caused by one of the following:
- There are too many open applications on the BlackBerry smartphone.
- There is a physical problem with the integrated camera.
There are too many open applications on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Close all applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. On the BlackBerry smartphone, display the menu and select Close.
Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. Then attempt to open the camera application again.
Run the BlackBerry smartphone through the application loader tool.
Warning: The above procedures will delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the data prior to performing the procedure.
There is a physical problem with the integrated camera.
If all the above have been attempted and the camera application does not open, contact the service provider for further assistance.

I wonder why I didn’t see these earlier. I kept on formatting and reinstalling every software available on my 9780 until I saw this post and then I knew it was a hardware problem with my camera and not software. Finally got it replaced. Thanks Eta.
please can you explain to me how you manage make it or how you reset your 9780 because am having the same problem and dnt knw what to do pls enlight me.

I am using a blackberrytorch 9860 and every time I start the camera or video camera I get an error message that I shouild close other applications and try opening the camera again. Please help
You might have to do a full operating system restore.
